Everything you need to know about installing and cutting panels

Sandwich panels have become essential in modern construction projects thanks to their ability to combine thermal and acoustic insulation, structural strength and ease of installation . Our tile-effect sandwich panels combine traditional aesthetics and technical performance .

Essential materials for a successful installation

Screws and Fasteners

Self-drilling screws , wood or steel, which provide a strong and durable fixing. This not only guarantees reliable installation on the supporting structure, but also excellent resistance to weather and wear, thus ensuring the longevity of the installation.

Accessories and finishes

Accessories such as ridge tiles, front covers or side edges play a crucial role in protecting the edges of the panels from humidity and sunlight, while ensuring an impeccable aesthetic finish .

Sealants

The joints between panels should be sealed with polyurethane foam or butyl rolls to ensure maximum insulation against water and air. It is recommended to place expanding foam under the ridge tiles for better insulation.

Choice of structure type

Select a suitable steel or timber structure. This choice determines the type of screws to be used, which must penetrate at least 30 mm into the supporting material to ensure optimal fixing. The purlins of the structure must be perfectly parallel and aligned and must respect a regular interval of 2 m between the supports.

Handling of equipment

Upon delivery, careful unloading is essential to avoid damage to the panels. When handling them, transport them horizontally and avoid sliding them to preserve their structural integrity and internal insulation.

Before beginning installation, check the exact dimensions of your structure and make sure you have all the necessary materials. This will avoid costly adjustments or interruptions during assembly.

Placement and fixing

Installing the first panel is a crucial step to ensure perfect alignment. Use the panel interlocking system to securely assemble the panels while screwing them onto the structure. Start by fastening the screws at each end of the panel, as well as at each male/female joint.

Important note: screws must be fixed to the top of the tile to prevent water infiltration. Remove chips after each screwing to prevent corrosion.

Once all the panels are installed, finalize the installation using the appropriate accessories: ridge, front covers, edges, etc. This will perfect the joints and ensure an aesthetic and durable finish.

Cutting sandwich panels

Circular saw or jigsaw: With a blade specifically for metal (with fine teeth). These tools allow for a clean and fast cut without damaging the panels.

Angle grinder (disc grinder): Used with a thin metal disc, it is ideal for more complex or precise cuts.

Drill and drill bits: The drill ensures fast and efficient fastening. Depending on the frame material (wood or metal), it may be necessary to use a specific drill bit for pre-drilling, to facilitate the insertion of screws without cracking or damaging the materials.

Work in a clean, clear area to avoid damaging the panels during handling. Never cut the panels with a high-speed heat saw , as this may burn the paint and insulation.

Marking the Cut Line: Use a marker or grease pencil to trace the cut line on the panel.

Panel Fixing: Stabilize the panel on a flat surface or sawhorses to avoid vibrations. Use clamps if necessary.

Cutting: Proceed slowly to avoid damaging the panel. If using a circular saw or grinder, make sure the blade or disc is properly fitted.

Cleaning after cutting: Remove metal shavings with a soft cloth to prevent them from rusting and damaging the panel surface. If necessary, file the edges of the panel to a perfect finish.
